Information collected automatically
- Device and browser information, such as browser type and operating system.

Cookies
We use essential cookies that the site needs to work and stay secure. We use analytics cookies from services such as Google Analytics, which show us how readers use the site, only with your consent where the law requires it. You can withdraw consent, or block and delete cookies in your browser settings, and still read the site. Learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
How we use your information and our legal bases
- Sending the newsletter you asked for — consent, which you can withdraw at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email.
- Analytics cookies — consent, where required by law.
- Responding to your messages, tips, corrections and complaints — our legitimate interest in running a responsive, accurate publication.
- Keeping the site secure and preventing spam and abuse — our legitimate interest in protecting the site and its readers.
- Meeting legal requirements — compliance with a legal obligation.
We do not sell or rent your personal data, and we do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Who we share it with
We share personal data only with processors that help us run the site — web hosting, email delivery (including Mailchimp), analytics, and security and spam prevention — under contracts that require them to protect it. We may also disclose data where required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the publication.
Transfers outside the EEA
CGN Entertainment is based in Canada, which the European Commission recognises as providing adequate protection for commercial organisations. Some of our processors are in the United States. Where data leaves the European Economic Area, we rely on an adequacy decision (including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework) or Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter subscriptions: until you unsubscribe. We may keep a minimal suppression record so we don’t email you again.
- Messages: as long as needed to handle your request and any follow-up, then deleted.
- Analytics data: for the retention period set in our analytics tools.
- Server and security logs: for a short period, unless needed to investigate an incident.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Have inaccurate data corrected.
- Have your data erased.
- Restrict our processing, or object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.
To exercise a right, use our contact page. We will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie) or to the supervisory authority where you live or work.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
